Rigor is creating an environment in which each student is expected to learn at high levels,
each student is supported so he or she can learn at high levels,
and each student demonstrates learning at high levels (Blackburn, 2008).

Universal Design for Learning

With my newest book, Rigor for Students with Special Needs, I've been doing research on the Common Core State Standards and how they relate to students with disabilities (the language used in the standards).  One of the recommendations is to use Universal Design for Learning with students with special needs.  Is that new to you?  If so, check out this one page overview!
