Rigor is creating an environment in which each student is expected to learn at high levels,
each student is supported so he or she can learn at high levels,
and each student demonstrates learning at high levels (Blackburn, 2008).

Ten Tips to Create Momentum for the New School Year

Here's a GREAT article about creating momentum in your life.  I love it because it's applicable to schools.  For example:

Create your picture of success and make it a reality. It’s true – if you can’t see your vision of success, you’ll never get there. So what does success look like for you day to day? How do you want to spend your time? How do you want to define success for yourself this year. Write your vision down and post it somewhere you will see it everyday.

Think about it.  How do you want to define success for you AND your students this year?  Although test scores may be a part of that, what else will make it a successful year?  Perhaps your students becoming independent learners?  Problem-solvers?  Dream big!
